No Heat Emergency Program (NHEP)

Central WV Community Action, Inc. is currently accepting applications for the No Heat Emergency Program (NHEP).  The NHEP program aids households at or below 150% of the Federal Poverty Income Guidelines in need of emergency heat, including the repair or replacement of non-operable heating units.  Since first receiving funds in 2017, the agency has assisted with over 80 repairs and replacements in Harrison and Lewis Counties.

In order to apply for assistance, the recipient must meet the following criteria:

  • Must be a homeowner
  • Household income at or below 150% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines for the current year.
  • Have no working heat service or the heat service is considered unsafe.
  • Proof of ownership and occupancy of one year.  In the case of a land contract, the contract must be notarized.
  • Customer must not be eligible for other repair or replacement programs (ex. FEMA).

Requests are prioritized per Central WV Community Action policy standards.

The No Heat Emergency Program (NHEP) Applications can also be downloaded {here} and taken to the local Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR) for processing.
